Change Windows 8.1 Charms Bar Icons

Windows is an OS which can be customized the most and this can be attributed to its popularity. If you have shifted to Windows 8.1 then you might have noticed that there are several ways to change the desktop there are certain aspects which are not easy to change. Windows 8.1 charms bar seems to fall in that category. It appears that it cannot be customized other than changing the accent color used on the Start screen and other areas of Windows. However with Charms Bar customizer you can change the icons which appear in Windows 8.1.

Charms Bar Customizer is a tool and do not require any installation. You can extract contents of ZIP file to a folder as well as launch application in order to start using it. You would have to click yes when a User Account Control dialog pops up. You would be presented with a miniature representation of the Charms bar. This can be used to keep track of the changes you make.

There are five buttons and each of them has a hover as well as a regular state and both can be customized with tool. You would have to double click any of the icons as well as choose an image which you would like to use instead of actual one.

You can repeat the process for all icons which you would like to change. Now finally click ‘change’ which is at the bottom-right of the program window in order to apply the changes. Charms bar would restart explorer and put new ones into place. If you plan to change it then open the app and click ‘Restore’ button.

In case you find that charms bar has crashed before IE restarts then you manually restart it as follows:

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del simultaneously and click the ‘Task Manager’ link.

A Task Manager window appears, click ‘File’ menu and choose ‘Run new task’.

In the run box type”explorer” and click OK.

This would restore IE post crash.

So now you can change Windows 8.1 charms bar icons.
